About Troef
Troef is a European law firm specialized in intellectual property (IP) and information technology (IT) law. We provide legal advice and represent clients in litigation before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) as well as the Dutch national courts.
Founded by Allard van Duijn, Troef is uniquely qualified to handle cases involving complex technology. Allard has a strong background in patent litigation. As a lawyer (advocaat) at Freshfields LLP, Allard has built a track record in litigating high-stakes multi-jurisdictional IP and IT cases. His experience covers technical products such as computer hardware, software, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Our approach
Troef's approach is not to stop at the law, but to gain a deep understanding of the commercial dynamics and the technology at stake. Cases are more often than not won on the facts. We present complex facts in a simple and convincing manner, and work closely with subject matter experts to craft legally compelling technical arguments.
Troef is just as much a tech firm as a law firm. We use our own proprietary software to gather, sort and analyze relevant law and facts. This allows us to focus on the hard parts of each case.
Data sovereignty matters to us. We store and process client data only on our own hardware located in the Netherlands. We make use of local artificial intelligence (AI) in a responsible manner, and will always inform clients prior to any AI use.
